ITA  Il progetto vuole creare uno spazio museale che valorizzi sia la Piscina Mirabilis (il contenitore) che l'arte contemporanea (il contenuto) attraverso una serie di interventi che tengano conto del programma del concorso e delle caratteristiche della rovina romana, suddivisi in due aree principali, terrazza e cisterna. La nuova copertura, elemento caratterizzante del progetto, identifica l’intervento e si inserisce all'interno del contesto circostante fornendo un nuovo sguardo sull'orizzonte. Il disegno di quest’ultima richiama la conformazione della vecchia copertura, utilizzando lo stesso sistema di diffusione luminosa della cisterna. La nuova conformazione della terrazza panoramica attiva un processo di stratificazione, instaurando un dialogo con il "primary layer" della Piscina Mirabilis, accentuandone la forza evocativa delle aperture sulla vecchia copertura e facendone percepire lo spazio sotterraneo. Oltre ad accogliere le funzioni richieste dal programma, la terrazza diventa uno spazio pubblico aperto e accogliente in grado di stimolare culturalmente i cittadini. La cisterna diventa il museo stesso attraverso un percorso espositivo che ospita una collezione permanente e spazi per esposizioni temporanee. È un contrasto di ombra, luce, rovine e design, tutto amplificato e specchiato nell'acqua. La connessione tra terrazza e cisterna viene identificata attraverso un innesto dorato, creando un ponte fisico e metaforico tra le strutture e il museo contemporanei e antichi.

The project aims to create a museum space that enhances both the Piscina Mirabilis (the container) and contemporary art (the content) through a series of interventions that consider the competition program and the characteristics of the Roman ruin, divided into two main areas: the terrace and the cistern. The new roof, a defining element of the project, identifies the intervention and integrates into the surrounding context, offering a new view of the horizon. Its design recalls the shape of the old roof, using the same light diffusion system as the cistern. The new configuration of the panoramic terrace activates a process of layering, establishing a dialogue with the “primary layer” of the Piscina Mirabilis, enhancing the evocative power of the openings on the old roof and making the underground space perceptible. In addition to accommodating the functions required by the program, the terrace becomes a welcoming public space capable of culturally stimulating the citizens. The cistern itself becomes the museum through an exhibition route that houses a permanent collection and spaces for temporary exhibitions. It is a contrast of shadow, light, ruins, and design, all amplified and reflected in the water. The connection between the terrace and the cistern is marked by a golden insertion, creating both a physical and metaphorical bridge between the contemporary and ancient structures and museum.
